Aurelia Wimber Obituary

Aurelia P. Wimber, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. She was born on March 25, 1943, in San Martin,Tarapoto, Peru, SA, to Concepcion Sangama Tafur and Pedro Pascual Pinchi Sangama. She grew up alongside her nine siblings where she would grow coffee beans on her family's farm. When she turned 26 in 1969 she made the decision to immigrate to the United States.  Shortly after, she married Darrel Wimber on June 26, 1972.  Aurelia and Darrel gave birth to their only child Cheri in 1973.  Aurelia worked in many different job positions over her lifetime.  She was a homemaker first and foremost and would work jobs to help contribute to the household around Cheri’s school and activity schedule. Aurelia especially loved children and worked in a Montessori school for many years where she connected with young children. She also worked at the Cerebral Palsy center in Denver and found that to be very rewarding.  Aurelia loved people, always had a smile and was ready to share her infectious laugh with anyone willing to take the time to talk.

Aurelia lived a truly inspiring life. She valued a simple lifestyle, was very health conscious and enjoyed keeping herself busy outdoors.  A few of her many passions included gardening, cooking, traveling, and going for walks, where she would converse with anyone in her passing. Mostly, she loved spending time with her three grandchildren. Aurelia never took herself too seriously and loved to laugh and have a good time. She had a touching ability to spread kindness everywhere she went, even when she was going through chemotherapy, and other difficult challenges related to her health.

Aurelia is preceded in death by her parents Pedro Pascual Pinchi Sangama and Concepcion Sangama Tafur, her siblings: Eloisa, Polidoro, Oscar, Adilia, Estella, Pedro, and her husband (Darrel). She is survived by Lastenia and Elva her sisters; brother Horacio; daughter, Cheri (David) Miracle; Grandchildren (Jacob, Emma, Aidan, Madeline); as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
