DIANE CAROL (MARCHUS) PETERSON
Her home country was the geographical center of North America (Pierce and Benson County North Dakota) where she was born to Emil and Opal Marchus, and grew up surrounded by parents, siblings, friends, and relatives.
Born on November 10, 1939, Diane attended a one-room country school for eight years. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1957 and the Trinity Hospital School for Nursing in 1960. A year later she married Rudolph Gordon Peterson and helped him complete his senior year at Minot State College and later NDSU graduate school in Fargo. For the next 40+ years, while Gordon worked as a mathematician/computer specialist in private industry, the federal government, and academia. Diane resumed her nursing career on a part-time basis so she could give birth to and raise their daughters, Kim (Doug) Curley and Lora Peterson Jennings.
After countless years of study and faithful service, all the while struggling with Parkinson's disease, on November 13, 2022, Diane left for her eternal home in Glory Land with Jesus, our Lord & Savior. Survivors include the above plus sister Lorelie Allen of Rochester, MN, and brother Curtis Marchus of Marion, VA. An older sister, Lylis, and brother, Dennis, preceded her departure. Memorial services are being planned and will take place back in her home country. Contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090 B N. 12th. Inurnment will take place at Veterans' Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction on March 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM.
