Duane Hamn Obituary

Duane Randall Hamn, 57, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on 24 November 2023 in Delta, Colorado.

Duane was born on 14 December 1965 in Alvin, Texas to Tommie Hamn and Dortha (Mosier) Hamn. Duane attended numerous schools throughout his educational years but felt most at home in Riesel, TX. He moved to Colorado shortly before his senior year; where he graduated from Fruita Monument High School in Fruita, Colorado in 1985. He attended Mesa State College for a couple of years in the engineering program before moving to Nevada with his wife, Laura. Duane and his wife Laura, married in Grand Junction, CO on 16 August 1986.

His hobbies included spending time with family & friends, 4-wheeling, hunting, backpacking, camping, hiking, walking, and playing chess. He was a beloved fan of classic cars and NASCAR. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about auto mechanics; to include building his wife and himself personalized Jeeps for 4-wheeling.

Duane worked in many different occupations during his life. No matter the job, he always strived to do his very best. He worked his way into the trucking industry at an early age and thrived in the field. He worked as a Schwan's truck driver in both Colorado and Wyoming for several years. He continued to expand his knowledge and experience as a crane rigger, crane operator, and semi-truck driver while working in the oil field, primarily with Speedy Heavy Hauling.

He hired on with Lone Star Transportation in February 2016. His ultimate goal within the company was to become a transporter of windmill blades; which he achieved. Duane took great pride in each and every windmill blade that he delivered. On 19 October 2023, Duane delivered his 600th windmill blade. He was extremely proud of this accomplishment; along with being grateful for the many wonderful crew members, steersman, pilot car drivers, field crews, and logistics staff that he worked with throughout his years.

Duane was an exceptionally hard worker his whole life. His ethics were above reproach and he was constantly helping others. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Duane touched many lives with his caring, thoughtful ways, his knowledge, and his helpfulness.

He will forever be loved and missed. He was a great man! In the words of his wife Laura, "For such a quiet, unassuming man, his voice carried far."
