Herbert Gilford Renner, Jr.

Herbert Gilford Renner, Jr.  passed away at the age of 91 on December 20, 2022 in Grand Junction, Colorado.  He was born in Washington, D.C. on July 7th, 1931 to Herbert G. Renner Sr. and Mary H. Renner.   He is survived by two children, Glen & Roxanne, two step-children, Mark & Sheryll, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two wives, Alice L. Renner, and Sharon K. Renner.

He joined the Navy right out of high school and had a 22-year Naval career, serving as a corpsman with the Marines in Korea and the hospital corps in Vietnam.  He retired having attained the highest enlisted rank; Master Chief Petty Officer. 

He was a man of many talents; he was a painter, published author, and a jack-of-all-trades.  He loved boats and the water—in fact, he was the captain of two of his own boats along the way.  (He once commented that when he left this life, he would go to the big seafood buffet in the sky!)  He liked to travel, by ship whenever possible of course, and had been to several countries and most of the states in the U.S.

He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the veteran’s cemetery in Grand Junction, CO, on Tuesday, January 03, 2023, at 10 AM.
